Simple Triple Fudge Oreo Bundt Cake Recipe

This triple fudge oreo bundt cake recipe is INCREDIBLY decadent and moist--you would never know it begins with a boxed cake mix! It comes together in ten minutes but tastes better than anything you'd get at the bakery! Our youngest turned two this past weekend, and since it would be mostly adults celebrating, I decided to forgo the traditional birthday cake with too-sweet frosting for a decadent Triple Fudge Oreo Bundt Cake.

I have been on a Bundt cake kick for a little while now (My mom and grandma find it amusing and think it is especially funny that I paid $8.99 for my Bundt cake pan when they are a dime a dozen at garage sales and thrift sales. My grandma said she owned three at one point — different sizes of course! ;).

The recipe that I had been perfecting most recently was a copy cat recipe for Nothing Bundt Cake’s Chocolate Chocolate Chip Bundt Cake from Tastes Better From Scratch (although, thankfully, this recipe isn’t from scratch ;).

We’ve had it a few times from the actual store (and it is PHENOMENAL!), but paying $22 for a Bundt cake always nagged at me. So I searched until I found this recipe, and by adding just a little more sour cream and oil and baking it for ten minutes less, it is nearly identical to the $22 counterpart.

So when I saw that this Chocolate Fudge Oreo Bundt Cake recipe from Lick the Bowl Good used a very similar base (boxed chocolate cake mix, chocolate pudding and sour cream), I was intrigued and had to give it a try!

Here is what I really like about this recipe:
– It is very EASY! Like I mentioned, the base is a boxed cake mix, package of pudding and sour cream
– It doesn’t taste like it started with a box mix! It is incredibly moist, and rich (decadent, not TOO sweet!)
– It came together quickly. It took about ten minutes to get this from mixer to oven.
– The ganache for the top was also very easy to put together. I’ve used quite a few different methods to make ganache in the past, but this was the simplest yet!

And deciding whether or not to add oreos to the top was a no-brainer! For a birthday cake you have to go all out, right? And actually, I used the generic brand of double-stuffed Oreos from Aldi, but no one knew ;)

Everyone LOVED the cake, but I have to admit, a couple said that it was too much chocolate. I had no idea there were such a thing, but in the future I may skip the ganache and opt for a cream cheese frosting.

But if you have a chocolate lover that you want to impress, go all out with this recipe!

And if you are intrigues, here is the list of ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup Hershey’s chocolate syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Baking Instructions:

Changes I made:
Not much! I used a devil’s food chocolate cake mix and baked it for 53 minutes. When I inserted a knife in it didn’t come out clean, there were a few small clumpy, sticky pieces of batter that stuck to it and I quit baking it then.

I will definitely be making this cake again in the future and I hope you enjoy it too!

Happy baking!

P.S. And I am incredibly pleased with the Bundt pan I purchased from Amazon. I didn’t want to spend a lot in case my Bundt cake obsession was just a fad, but I love it — bakes evenly and NOTHING sticks to it :)
