5 Creative Holiday Gift Baskets that I Gave Last Year

Oct 23, 2015Dawn

Holiday Gift Baskets can be a fun alternative to traditional Christmas gifts. I put together a few different gift baskets last year to give to clients and family friends.

It was fun thinking of creative gift basket ideas that fit the recipients. Here are my five favorite creative gift basket ideas from last year.

I love these creative ideas for unique gift baskets--especially the Cupcake and Stuffed Burger themed ones!

5 Creative Holiday Gift Baskets

1. Cupcake Fun Gift Basket

This basket was inspired by friends who had just completed recreating their own version of Cupcake Wars with their family. How fun is that?

5 Creative Gift Baskets: A Cupcake themed basket is fun to give, especially with a fun Cupcake Idea Book like the one included :)

This was so much fun to put together since cupcakes are all the rage right now. I included:

Cake Mix
Frosting
Sprinkles
Patterned Cupcake Liners
Gel Food Color Set
Decorating Tip Set
Hello, Cupcake! Book

You could also include:

An Apron
Recipes for cupcake mixes or frosting
Oven Mitts
Cake Embellishments

Most of the items I found on Amazon because I LOVE to Christmas shop from home and the prices were the same, if not better than in the store.

The crown jewel of this basket is the Hello, Cupcake! decorating book. It has TONS of fun ideas, with large, brightly colored pictures (and at $11.95 on Amazon Prime, it is a steal!)

This basket was so fun to give, I wanted to keep one for our family! It is perfect for anyone who loves to bake or has kids.

2. Stuffed Burger Gift Basket

Last summer we discovered this really cool plastic Stuffed Burger Press. I found a recipe on Pinterest to make THE BEST stuffed Jalapeño Burgers with it. So, for our friends who love to grill, I thought, why not create a basket around it?

5 Creative Gift Baskets: A stuffed burger press is the centerpiece of this unique and fun holiday gift basket!

For this basket I included:

The Stuffed Burger Press ($9.95)
Hamburger Buns
Ketchup
Cream Cheese
Jalapeños
Burger Seasonings
Cheese

You could also include:

Stuffed Burger Recipes
Hamburger
Apron
Grilling Utensils

What is great about this Stuffed Burger Press (under $10) is that you can make really awesome stuffed burgers, or use to make regular hamburger patties that are packed tight and uniform in size.

So even if you don’t make this basket, it is a great gift for the foodie or grill master on your shopping list.

3. Coffee Lover Gift Basket

There are probably quite a few people on your list who would love a coffee themed gift basket, and it is quick and easy to put together.

5 Creative Gift Baskets: Any coffee lover would LOVE to receive a basket filled with coffee and things to dip in it!

The main feature of this basket is of course the coffee. From there you could add creamers, things to dip in coffee (like biscotti or shortbread cookies), or coffee mugs. Whatever your budget for this basket, you can make it work well, I spent under $15 for the one pictured, but you could easily spend more.

In this basket:

Ground Coffee
Gingerbread Biscotti
Chocolate Rolled Wafers
Chocolates (coffee and chocolate go GREAT together!)

You could also include:

Another package of coffee
Creamer
Flavored Coffee Syrup
Coffee Mug
Travel Mug

Target has really great sales on coffee, especially around the Holidays, it is a good time to stock up. That is the other nice thing about all of these gift baskets: you can grab pieces here and there throughout the year.

4. Spiked Movie Night Gift Basket

A fun surprise last year was when the friends we made the stuffed burger basket for reciprocated with this movie night basket :) So I can’t take credit for this one, but it was fun to receive!

5 Creative Gift Baskets: A movie night basket means fun for the whole family! The other 4 ideas on this site are AWESOME, too (love the cupcake themed one!)

My favorite part was that they included adult drinks along with the hot chocolate for the kids. They also had both children’s and a grown up movie, too.

This basket included:

Movies
Popcorn
Adult Drinks
Homemade Hot Chocolate Mix
Cracker Snacks
Lindor Chocolates in the bottom

You could also include:

Movie theater gift certificate
Theater style boxed candy

This type of basket could work for anyone whether they have kids or not, young or old.

5. Wine and Cheese Gift Basket

Ok, so this one isn’t that creative, but did you know? You don’t have to be a wine connoisseur to create this basket for friends who are! The staff at liquor stores are (generally) really helpful if you don’t know a thing about wine. Just let them know your price point and they can help you select a bottle or two.

Plus, people enjoy trying different varieties of wine, so you don’t have to worry about getting “the right kind.”

5 Creative Gift Baskets: You don't have to be a wine expert to give a great wine basket, tips for selecting wine included!

The other great part is that I found everything besides the wine for this basket at Aldi. During the holidays they have a great selection of fancier crackers and cheeses (like the cranberry white cheddar cheese). I even found the Bread Dipping Gift Set there.

In this Basket:

Two bottles of wine (a merlot and a resiling) and a bottle of Champagne
Two boxes of cracker
Three types of cheese
Bread and Olive Oil Dipping Gift Set

You could also include:

Olives
Grapes
Cheese plate and spreader

Like with most of the other baskets, the nice thing is that you can spend as much or as little as your budget allows and still create a really nice basket!

The Finishing Touch

After I created each basket, I used a cellophane gift basket bag from the Dollar Store to complete it:
