I’ll never forget it, it was a month or so after my colicky first born arrived. I was reading a book about parenting and the gal wrote about trying to go to the bathroom while holding a sleeping baby, followed by “What? you thought you were the only one who did that?”
It was at that point that I realized that I was not at all alone, despite what I had been feeling, rather I had just joined this really big club called “motherhood.” There was no ground that had not been traveled before, others had likely had a longer string of sleepless nights, a baby that cried more and nursed even longer. And I soon learned that I NEEDED these other moms and would also come to rely on my friends and family in new ways as well.
And some of the best support over the years has come from Diana, Allison and Jim, so I wanted to share them with you. They have been great friends, I think you’ll like them and feel genuinely encouraged by them. You may even find yourself saying “Really? I thought I was the only one who did that/felt that/thought that!”
Yep, washing a load of laundry three times because it never got transferred to the dryer, discovering my oldest had been wearing the same clothes since Sunday, and letting the kids watch five hours of TV because it was just one of those days…we’ve all been there.
We also all share a passion for our faith, our individual denominations may vary, but we all have an intense love for Jesus. If you don’t share the same passion, that’s ok, we probably don’t agree about vaccinations or co-sleeping, either, but that doesn’t mean we can’t be friends ;)
Oh, and you don’t have to be a mom to hang out with us. Diana will represent the singletons and steer the conversation back from potty training and the latest thing made out of pallets on Pinterest :)
